Hello everyone. I have had my Alienware M17xR3 for a while and it used to run excellently. One day, I noticed that games weren't running as well as they used to. I checked the Device Manager only to notice that my AMD Radeon HD 6970m card had completely disappeared from the list at random. Only the Intel Integrated 3000 card was there.
I flashed the BIOS to the newest one on Dell's site and it appeared and everything worked perfectly for about 6 months. Then out of nowhere and after no changes at all I could see, my laptop would run Windows then go to a black screen before the login screen and crash. I ran safe mode and found the AMD card was causing it so I unistalled it completely and my laptop runs fine.
However, this is quite annoying that I cannot play games at all or use it for what I bought it for. I have followed every known tutorial online and tried everything I could think of, but as soon as the AMD drivers are installed, it crashes after reboot. I have installed the drivers from Dell's site, the AMD site and other sites and it makes no difference. I have considered reinstalling Windows, but I wouldn't want to do all that just to find it ends up exactly the same. Plus I don't have a disc with Alienware drivers so I don't know what I'd do then. Any help?
