Has a definitive fix for this problem ever been found?
This last week this message has happened a couple of times on my M17X R4. I DO NOT have the battery connected to it, so one of the fixes mentioned on these forums by Dell - to wait for the blue light on the power plug to be fully lit before plugging it in to recharge the battery, doesn't apply. I have the laptop on a desk and by the time I have reached under the desk, plugged in the supply, and then sat back down, the blue light is always fully lit.
I'm dismayed to find when I search on these forums, that this problem has been reported across all the range of Alienwares, <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed per TOU policy> back to at least July 2010. Meaning that three years on, the problem still occurs.
I've seen mention that a motherboard replacement might be needed in some case? My machine is only three months old, so I don't relish the thought of having it stripped down completely for this to be fixed (if it comes to that)
I've sat for hours looking on google and reading every single post I can find. One of the most common saying that the old A06 (A05?) bios was the culprit. But as my machine is new, it is on A11 bios - so that can't be the case.
Hopefully there is something I have missed? And that there is a sure fire fix for this now that is relatively easy? Thanks.
