Aurora-R1, Cuts Out, i7-930, AMD Radeon HD7970

Hi,

Had my Aurora for a few years now and it's been through a few upgrades. It came with 2x5770 and 8GB of ram, it now has a 7970 and 12 GB of ram.

Both installed >12 months ago and all working fine until..

Recently, in the past 3 months, the PC has started cutting out.

It's only ever when it's under load and generally only when Planetside 2! I have 300+ steam games and it only seems to be PS2 which causes it, but to be fair it is running on very high (not ultra) setting which is pretty heavy at 2560 x 1440. Solid 60 fps in game though.

I'm monitoring all temps like a hawk (always have) and nothing seems to be climbing too high.

CPU is at 3.3 using BIOS level 1 overclock.

GPU always <70 as I've set the PCI fan speed manually to keep the temp down.

I'm pretty much at my whits end now, I don't want to throw the machine in the bin.

So I can play any other game (BF4/Crysis) for hours without problem. Planetside 2, after between 20 and 35 mins causes the machine to die. No BSOD, just death and a restart. Like the power has been cut (but everything else monitors etc on the wall socket are all still fine). I strongly suspect the PSU but can't find any replacements to buy and test.

So, anyone know where to get an Aurora PSU, it's the 875w one?

Does anyone know what the TMPIN0, TMPIN1 and TMPIN2 relate to in HWMonitor? I'm still testing buy there might be a correlation between TMPIN1 temp and the shutdowns but don't know what TMPIN1 relates to?! Is it the QPI?

Appreciate this model predates the 7970 but it worked fine for a long time without issues.

Model: Alienware Aurora
