Hi,
This is my first post in this forum. I have been working for days on a clean install for my old Alienware Aurora purchased in 2010. It is out of warranty.
The factory image is no longer available in Alien Respawn, probably from a previous reinstall.
Anyhow, clean installed Windows 7 professional, added the drivers using the resource disk. I am showing an unknown device USB on my device manager. I don't know what this is, all I have attached to it right now is the monitor, keyboard, mouse, wifi.
No other information on it when I click on details of the device, attempting to install a driver for it, will just give me an error that it failed.
I can't get pass installing the rest of the software or windows 7 update. If I do, it will start to lockup and give me BSOD.
Since I am a newbie at this, any help will be appreciated as to where to look.
If all else fails, thinking of getting it to an Office Depot to have them do the clean install but am rather apprehensive that they may not know what they are doing (Alienware specifics). Would it be better to go with paid Dell support?
