HDMI to VGA Alienware M18X

Hello, we just bought Alienware M18x laptop with dual GeForce GTX 770m SLI ,i want to connect it to a projector with VGA cord unfortunately the laptop has no VGA port i tried a chinese HDMI to VGA converter but had no luck the laptop can't detect anything when i plug the converter via GTX 770 when i switch to Intel HD graphics i only get blank screen .
P.S i updated to windows 8.1 and installed latest Dell drivers
Help please !
