Not sure if this is the right place for this but I thought it might help someone.
I could not get my m17x r3 to wake from sleep and I tried every possible solution I could find (thank you forums for all the help 
), then I discovered a very simple fix that corrected my problem.
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings
Then you simply select do not require password (it only affects waking up from sleep not power-up password locks).
Problem solved, I could not believe how simple it was to fix (as long as you do not care about requiring a password upon waking).
