I got an EVGA GTX 780 and it will not install on a Auorara R3 because of the OUTDATED bios AND UEFI in the rig just like Windows 8. I went thru similar things with the R3 and W8 and I know that Dell will not update the Bios. I have the last update A06 installed. I installed an EVGA GTX 780 and it hangs on boot, it will POST but not boot hangs on BIOS screen. EVGA tells me to disable secure boot (W8 ony so not relevant), and to disable UEFI and turn on legacy. The system is running W7 and in the BIOS boot menu the only way to disable UEFI I can find is to turn it off as the #7 boot option to disable. But this is an option for all 7 choices and I do not believe it turns UEFI off. The GTX 780 has a built in firmaware UEFI on the card. It conflicts with the R3 with an out of date BIOS and it is only a year and a half old (under warranty) and cannot run Windows 8 or use a modern gtraphics card for a gaming rig!!!!. Dell will not help nor update the machine as usuall snd verfied all fo this with me yesterday.
I have had at least 50 Dells over the last 15 years, all XPS and Alienware, worst service ever lately and I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ALIENWARE OR DELL PRODUCT IHAVE TWO R3'S NOW AND WHEN THEY DIE THEY WILL BE DIEAD AS WELL AS DEEL GOTRVRT ME!!!
Beware if you are getting a GTX 780 for an Auroara R3. bEWARE OF BUYING ANDELL IF YOU WANT TO UPGRADE EVER THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT SUPPORT YOU SHAME ON DELL JUST LIKE WINDOWS 8
