Saturday 8-2-2014 My order arrived (Alienware X-51 R-2)
I used the quick start guide, and the computer functioned for nearly twenty minutes before the keyboard/mouse froze up.
Not a single USB port will work. None. They're sending out power (I Can plug a USB cable and charge my phone) but nothing else will work. I've tried 4 different mice, and 3 different keyboards on all ports. The Alienware keyboard/mouse will work fine on other PC's.
I then reset the computer, and got the "ERROR: No USB kb input device, strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the set up utility." How are you supposed to hit anything if no USB ports are working?
I then contacted Tech Support, and was instructed to pop the CMOS battery. I no longer get the above error, however, none of my USB ports are functional.
This brings me to my 2 reasons for writing this post:
1. I was told over phone support they will be sending a technician out to replace my motherboard, I then received an e-mail from A_Herrera. I cannot seem to track anything, or even show that a support call was even made/part tracker (outside the e-mail I still have)
2. Is replacing the motherboard the ACTUAL solution? I've come across MANY others on this forum through a simple google search, who have had problems with their USB ports not working, and no fixes in sight.
