Hi,
I have an Alienware 14 laptop, and I have a problem with the 3.5mm jack input/output it seems. When I connect my headset the pc recognizes the headset, and it asks me what I just plugged in. I click headset or headphones, but nothing happens after that. I don't get sound through my headset. In the soundoptions where I can choose which device to use, the headset doesn't appear at all. My internal speakers is the only option there.
So I need help figuring this out. I've tried everything (I think). Updated BIOS driver, updated soundcard driver and all of the other "standard solutions" I could find while googling. It seems every site I go to, the same solutions appear. None of those work. My internal speakers work just fine and I have checked the volume after plugging in the headset.
When I plug in an external soundcard via USB, everything works fine. It appears in the soundoptions I talked about earlier, and I can plug my headset in the external soundcard for it to work. But I don't want to rely on the USB soundcard to be able to hear sound through my headset.
I wonder why the computer recognizes that I have plugged in my headset, but nothing happens after that. It even recognizes when I plug it out.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks.
