M17x r4 boots to black screen

Hope someone can help.

i went to start my laptop, the logo splash page came up, then the windows 8  password page, once I entered it boots to a black screen.

tried removing the battery procedure still having the same result.

tried tapping f2, f12 to get to those menus, but it goes straight to the logon page.

i don't think it's the  video card, I get the splash page with the image prior to the password entry page, and when I hit Crtl alt del I get the page to allow me to get into the task manager which opens.

any ideas on how to fix this.

I m in Afghanistan so my options are limited at the moment.
