MX17 R3 CMOS Reset - 8 beep fix

Hello all,

Every time I reboot my laptop, I run the risk of having to do the following things after getting the 8 beep error.

1. Unplug
2. Remove Battery
3. Hold Power Button for 30 seconds
4. Plug it back in
5. Hold "Fn" button while pressing power button
6. Let it run through the self checks

Then it will function normally.

Even though it says 8 beeps is a video problem, I don't really believe that. Otherwise, those procedures shouldn't work.

I have replaced the cmos battery, but seems I'm always clearing cmos these days.

Just wondering if someone has discovered a permanent fix?

I've read about people replacing Motherboards, video cards and LCD displays to no avail. Something is wonky with post and cmos.
