Hi guys,
So I've got a bit of a problem with the graphics card on my X51 at the moment, so I'm having to use the onboard HDMI.
Initially, I replaced the default GTX 555 with a rather cool GTX 770 (with a bigger PSU, to support it), and that wouldn't work at first (wouldn't even show boot screen, just blackness), I had to upgrade the BIOS to A12 before the GTX 770 would work in the X51.
I've had to remove the GTX 770, and this is where the problems started. I've got a couple of AMD cards lying around, so I've tried both the HD 7870 and
HD 7970 but neither will boot (just black screens), so I tried putting in the original GTX 555 and even that's black screening. I upgraded the BIOS again to A13 in hopes that it would solve all my problems, but it hasn't, all 3 cards are black screening. I've tried the GTX 770 again and even that's black screening now.
The GTX 770 has to go in the morning, so I won't be able to check that anymore. But I still have the GTX 555, HD 7970 and 7870 to play with.
I've looked in the BIOS and there aren't many options. I've checked that 'descrete' is the default graphics option, as opposed to IGFX. There's not really much else to choose from. I've tried remove the CMOS battery too, that had very little effect, other than resetting my system clock.
I'm thinking I might have to downgrade my BIOS, I've seen a thread on here where someone has managed to do it, but that's risky business. I'd rather leave that until a very last resort if possible.
Does anyone have any ideas they think might help? Thanks in advance.
