Hi, My mouse is having the exact same problem. The mouse just managed to last for about a year, my experience with a standard mouse is about 3 to 4 years. Common, this is a so called premium mouse. Problem encountered:-
1. exposed bare wire
2. left click issue
Any permanent solution?
My alienware 17 cant detect my gpu :( i have uninstalled and reinstalled many nvidia drivers and still it doesnt fix it :( ive also formatted my notebook but that didnt also fix it. Something's weird because if the driver is freshly installed, my gpu works and it is detected but after an hour, turning on my alienware my nvidia control panel will be missing and saying" You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU". another thing is when 332.21 drivers is installed i get BSODs Bad pool header :(
in the device manager(not in 332.21 driver) NVIDIA GTX 770m says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" But all of the drivers is okay if im hibernating my laptop. Shutting down my laptop causes the loss of nvidia control panel and the GPU. Please help me fix this :( Thanks in advance :(

I have a new Alienware 17 with the GTX 770M GPU (3GB) and there's something that worries me a bit: when it's on, no matter what I'm doing or what the temperature of the GPU is, the fan is always at a 100% speed (checked with TechPowerUp GPU-Z). Is that normal? Will that decrease the life of the fan or damage something in the long run?
Would it be good if I tweaked it a bit with a software? I was thinking about EVGA Precision X, but I don't know how it works and I don't want to screw anything up, it's not like I have the money to buy a new laptop or fix it.
Hi, having some problems with my M15X. During boot the windows diagnostic screen appears, i have run the programmes several times along with re-spawn and the error meesages appear to indicat a fault with the hard drive and then the tests just hang.
I read some other pages on the Dell forum and follwed some of the answers but still ended with the same issue.
I disconected the internal battery, powered down completely, removed the hard drive and noted the serial number. Now when powering up, the fans run and then the Num, Caps and Scroll keys all flash and i dont have anything on the screen.
I can purchase a replacement drive from Dell and i have the orginal OS and driver disc. Would/could these sovle the problem ? System is 2010 and out of warranty.

Recently I got my hands on the new alienware 18,it looks marvelous,nothing to say about its appeal. However,I'm kinda new to the Alienware world,and after further research,it came to my ears that there are some issues with it and,from the topof my ignorance,I would like to ask you some questions:
I got it with windows 8 Pro pre-installed,and I would like to update it to 8.1,are there any known compatibitily issues with hardware,drivers,or alienware apps like FX,Audio,etc of Alienware 18? or can I update it carefree? Will it maintain the Pro features?
I heard there's a throttling problem with the 49XX CPUs,cause to the fans not kikin in properly in time to prevent overheat,and since the BIOS is locked we have to wait for a Dell update to fix this,and I also heard several months have passed without the solution. Is it a problem we can solve with a simple BIOS update,or there's further more in this rotten matter? How much it affects in terms of perfomance? Also,how can I know my current BIOS version?
I'm currently using XTU to monitor components temperatures,do you know any better program or should I stick with it? I'm looking for a good one to monitoring the FPS In-Game applications too.
My current Setup is: 4900MQ,GTX 780m SLI,750GB HD with 80GB caching SSD

I have a M15x i7 q720 @ 1.6 ghz with 8GB of ram and a Geforce Gtx 260m video card. I have been thinking of upgrading the video card. I have seen some people put in an AMD 7970m which is something I would be interested in. Is there anything else I would have to upgrade in the computer? And would i need the upgraded power supply?

Was going to add a DXDiag, but can't find the attachment button...anyhow, I'm having a bit of a problem with my Alienware 18, but since I've never really had to configure my keyboard before I'm not sure how to fix it. My problem right now is simple: If I'm holding more than one key at once and press another key, it doesn't register. I.e. if I'm holding the right arrow and the 'S' key, and press D, the computer does not register that I pressed it. Is there a way to fix this?
So i bought this notebook for gaming... And i can not play some games because it has keyboard ghosting/jamming. Is it normal for all the users of this type of notebook or my alienware has a defect?

Need Help With: Insert Buttons Not Responding.
The Problem: There are two INSERT buttons, one INSERT, and the other INS, which is on the keypad, and the INSERT is a function key which is right above BACKSPACE neither of which work, I've been having to use my really old computer too use INSERT, which is just a pain. If anyone has any knowledge on how to fix this problem, I'd like to hear it.

Just received my new Alienware 14 -- was working on it yesterday and noticed that the network port isn't flush with the chasis on the back end. Can see line of light from the fx lighting along the back end of their port that shouldn't be there. The port clearly looks like it isnt aligned correctly when you look closely at it. It may seem like a small thing but I expected better build quality on a $2300+ system. Anyone else experience anything similar?
I've just bought the Alienware x51 R2 and say I love it. But there a problem setting up mt three monitors, only two of them work.
First monitor Hooked up through a HDMI > DVI Cable works just fine.
Second monitor hooked up through a DVI > VGA Cable. And that too, works just fine.
The problems start with the Mini-DP. The third monitor is plugged in, and hooked the the computer through a Mini-DP > VGA, and that does not work. The computer doesn't even recognize that there is a monitor there.
Here is the cable I bought. It is the exact same, but white.
So Far, I have
-Switched the monitors around to make sure they all work. (They do.)
-Checked to make sure the cable was snug and in place, everything hooked up. (It was.)
-Changed all my graphics settings to high performance.
-Went to the control panel, tried to see if there even was a DP option or some sort of thing like that. I also tried messing around with the resolution, as some troubleshooters said for me to do that. (Yes, the NVIDIA control panel as well.)
Does anyone have any clue how I could fix this? It would be very much appreciated.
So my alienware aurora r4 (alx) showed suddenly some unkown devices
what would you like me to provide to tell me which those devices are ?
all of them have the same hardware ID

My Alienware Area-51 always being BSOD while playing games. I tried honestly everything, alienautospy, alien respawn factory restore. But nothing helped? The Dell warranty expired on 4/9/2012.
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade my Alienware X51 RC1 GTX 555 OEM GPU to something better. I've been searching for days and have not found a clear and safe answer. I have a 330W PSU with the following specs bellow. I was told that I could upgrade to the GTX 660 and I'm wondering if there are any other cards I can upgrade to that are better. Also when I searched for a GTX 660 I found such cards as a Evga GTX 660 3gb FTW and SC etc. Can someone please give me some of the best options that will not overload my system or cause me any problems? I've talked to multiple different Alienware support reps and all of them had different answers.

I purchased this computer with the primary purpose of performance using Ableton Live 9. Periodic interruptions in the audio stream occur due to DPC latency, causing unwanted pauses in the audio output. I have confirmed the problem exists using the Thesycon DPC Latency Checker, but have not done any further troubleshooting yet. Are there any logging utilities that might give more specific information regarding which driver or process may be starting and interrupting the audio stream?
Have been trying to make re-installation disk.
Two questions why isn't my SSD drive listed as an option?
Also when I try to use one of my backup drives My book or My passport drives with plenty of space on both I get a message saying that Alienware is going to re-format my drives and I will lose all data? Why does it want to re-format my drive?
I have already tried to back up using disk and it failed on the 3rd disk and wants to start all over again. No reason given.

I just purchased a new Alienware 17 Laptop. Came in 2 days ago, first thing I did with the computer was install steam, skype, and Dota 2. Second time i started dota the computer crashed to a blue screen and then immediately restarted. 2 days later it now has crashed multiple times. Seems to only happen with dota but then again I haven't used the computer much other than to play games. I have updated the video drivers and it still happens. Any suggestions? Computer had this problem only a few hours after I first started it.. only things I had installed or changed was adding Steam/Skype/Dota 2.

i have a HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GA31N cd/dvd lecteur, since a few months it didn't read burn cd anymore.
i tried to clean it wih a special cd cleaner but it didn't fixed the problem
my lecteur can read original cd but not burn cd
can someone help me with this issue
